Equine vet, in English
I am Julieta Born, a specialist in equine medicine with an ambulatory practice around Frankfurt. Spanish is my first language, I work in German every day, and part of my training was in the United States and Canada — so we can do this in English, at the yard and on the phone.
What I do
Lameness is what I care about most, and it is where an unhurried examination pays off. The rest of the range of an ambulatory practice comes with it.
- Lameness and orthopaedics
- Systematic work-ups with diagnostic nerve and joint blocks, objective gait analysis, digital X-ray and ultrasound at your yard, joint and tendon injections, and a plan for the weeks after treatment.
- Regenerative therapy
- PRP and autologous blood products for tendons and joints, prepared and injected at your yard in a single visit.
- Pre-purchase examinations
- Clinical examination and, on request, the standard radiographic series. You get a written report of what I found and what it may mean — the decision stays yours.
- Internal medicine
- Airways, stomach and gut, metabolism, skin and eyes — including endoscopy and gastroscopy at the yard, so your horse need not travel.
- Preventive care
- Vaccination, annual health check including an oral examination, faecal egg counts and a deworming plan, passport and vaccination record.
- Wound care and standing surgery
- Suturing wounds, removing skin tumours and other minor surgery — done standing and sedated at the yard. Castrations too. Anaesthesia at the yard by arrangement; major operations belong in a clinic, and I will advise you and refer you.
- Emergencies
- First care at the yard for colic, wounds, acute lameness, fever and eye emergencies — and the decision whether the horse needs a clinic.
Where I come
Roughly 40 kilometres around Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen as the crow flies: Offenbach, the Taunus, the Wetterau, Main-Kinzig, Darmstadt, Wiesbaden, Mainz and Aschaffenburg. That circle is a guide, not a border — if your yard is a little outside it, ask me, especially if several horses are stabled there.
In an emergency
Call. If I am free, I come. If I am not, I tell you straight away and refer you to a clinic I work with. What I promise is a clear answer on the phone — not an on-call service I cannot keep.
Out of hours, at weekends and on public holidays I bill at least twice the standard rate under the German fee scale (GOT), plus the emergency call-out fee the scale prescribes.
